Description
ANSYS SpaceClaim Overview
SpaceClaim is a software development company for creating and editing solid 3D models. The company’s leader is Michael Payne, a former co-founder of PTC and one of the creators of SolidWorks, who later worked as CEO at Spatial Corp. and chief technologist at Dassault Systemes.
SpaceClaim is a 3D solid modeling and editing program primarily aimed at engineers who need to contribute to product development but are not currently using a “primary” MCAD system. The program can work with most 3D MCAD formats and also stores data in its own, completely open, XML-based format.
SpaceClaim can complement the functionality of NX and improve user productivity. In addition, SpaceClaim helps improve the overall efficiency of the company by extending the benefits of 3D to all stakeholders. This streamlines the product design process, improves information sharing, which leads to fewer design iterations and faster time to market.
ANSYS SpaceClaim Features
SpaceClaim gives engineers a new level of flexibility in the design process.
Enhancements made to SpaceClaim include expanded sheet metal capabilities and the following options:
– Mechanism placement conditions support contact, ball joints, gears.
– Direct 3D application of dots, lines, grooves.
– Expanded options for working with sheet metal, such as: a new library and new shapes, flat templates that can be bent into volumetric objects, lightweight configurations, engraving.
– Selection of components by size for quick assembly cleaning from unnecessary components. Detailed options, such as customizable symbols, a symbol library, a modular grid coordinate system for use in the automotive and aerospace industries.
– Expanded capabilities for customizing your own tools and interactive objects.
