Siemens decided to end the era of Comfort operator panels with Windows CE OS.

Required Windows features for WinCC Unified
Which Windows functions must be activated in order to be able to install SIMATIC WinCC Unified?
If you want to successfully install or use WinCC Unified ES or WinCC Unified RT, corresponding Windows features must be activated.
When installing WinCC Unified V17 and V18, the corresponding Windows features are automatically configured during the installation process.
Limited user rights during the installation process do not activate all necessary Windows functions.
When installing WinCC Unified V16, the Windows functions listed below are not automatically activated during the installation process.
Possible causes of faulty installation
You are using WinCC Unified V16.

Windows-specific software settings for Internet Information Services (IIS)
If you want to install the SIMATIC WinCC Unified PC Runtime or the simulation of SIMATIC WinCC Unified PC or the simulation of SIMATIC HMI Unified Comfort Panels on an engineering computer, the corresponding Windows functions must be activated before the installation.
