R&B MoldWorks for SolidWorks Overview

MoldWorks is an automated layout of molds. MoldWorks is used, first of all, to reduce the cycle of design and engineering work. The time for layout of a mold in the MoldWorks system takes several hours, as opposed to 1.5 – 2 weeks with conventional design, even using a computer.

R&B MoldWorks for SolidWorks Features

• MoldWorks helps to optimize the size of the package and the location of its nodes, and edit individual components of the mold on the spot.
• In manual design, the designer cannot guarantee the full functionality of the structure at the development stage, which is quite difficult to do when working with individual drawing views. As a result, the mold is subjected to repeated testing and fine-tuning in the tool shop.
• In the MoldWorks system, it is possible to analyze the assembly of the mold and the operability of its units, provide for the intersection of individual parts in the mold (ejectors and side rods that have a common working area).
• A large percentage of defects in the manufacture of molds is associated with designer errors in calculating the cooling system. MoldWorks analyzes wall thicknesses, helping to avoid intersections of cooling holes with other holes.
• The speed of mold assembly in MoldWorks is due to the use of parametric 3-dimensional object-oriented libraries of mold parts of several international standards (DME, HASCO, NATIONAL, RABOURDIN, FUTABA, EOC, STRACK). All used mold components have a graphic and informational description and are positioned in the assembly in accordance with their purpose.
