R-Studio For Mac Overview

In the family of powerful and efficient data recovery programs from R-TT, R-Studio for Mac is specially designed for the Mac OS environment, including the Apple M1/M2 chip. The program recovers files from APFS/HFS+/HFS (Macintosh), FAT/NTFS/ReFS (Windows), UFS1/UFS2 (FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD/Solaris) and XFS/Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 FS (Linux) partitions. In addition, R-Studio for Mac uses signature file recovery (searching for known file types when scanning) for heavily damaged or unknown file systems. The utility supports file recovery on disks, even if the disk partitions have been formatted, damaged or deleted. The program’s user-friendly interface gives the user absolute control over the data recovery process.

R-Studio For Mac Features

R-Studio for Mac recovers files:

  • Deleted by a virus attack or computer power failure;
  • After the partition with files was reformatted, even to a partition with a different file system;
  • Deleted by the user;
  • When the partition structure on the hard drive was changed or damaged. In this case, you can use R-Studio for Mac to scan the hard drive, find the deleted or damaged partition, and then recover data from the found partition.
  • From hard drives that have a large number of bad sectors. R-Studio for Mac recovery software can first copy information and create an image of the entire disk or part of it, and then work with the image file saved on another medium as with the original disk. This is especially useful and effective when the number of bad sectors on the disk is constantly growing, and it is necessary to immediately save the remaining information.
  • Recover files from damaged or deleted partitions.
  • Support for hardware RAID, volume sets, and striped volumes.
  • Support for mass file recovery.

Support:

  • APM, Basic, and GPT support. R-Studio for Mac supports all three partition schemes used to define the low-level organization of data on disks formatted on Macintosh computers.
  • Apple RAID, CoreStorage, File Vault, and Fusion Drive software (APFS/HFS+);
  • BitLocker Drive Encryption, for BitLocker Drive Encryption and BitLocker ToGo volumes;
  • Windows Storage Spaces (created in Windows 8/8.1 and 10/Threshold 2/Anniversary/Fall Creators updates);
  • Dynamic disk support, including desynchronized software RAIDs created in Windows.
  • Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM/LVM2) and mdadm RAIDs.
  • Intel software RAIDs

R-Studio for Mac can automatically recognize and assemble components of these disk managers even if their databases are slightly damaged. Their components with seriously damaged databases can be added manually.Support for VMDK/VHD/VHDX/VDI file formats. Read-only for all versions, create for Technician/T80+ versions.Read-only support for dmg (Apple Disk Image: all versions), E01/(EWF) (Expert Witness File format: R-Studio Technician/T80+) and AFF (Advanced Forensic format: R-Studio Technician/T80+) files.

Support for specific file system features:

  • Recover data forks, resource forks, finder information, extended file attributes, and UNIX file system permissions. Support for HFS+ compressed files.
  • Advanced APFS recovery: encryption support.
  • Journal processing for the HFS+ file system, which significantly increases the number of successfully found files.
  • Recover compressed, encrypted files, and alternate data streams from NTFS partitions.
  • Recognize localized names.
  • Recover names and paths of files deleted in the Recycle Bin and Trash

Detailed file analysis:

  • Advanced file search and file mask options.

  • File lists to recover for mass file recovery. File lists to recover with advanced file information in Technician version.

Visualization of the scanning process. When scanning an object, R-Studio Mac graphically displays the found objects, including files of known types, APFS/HFS/HFS+ volume headers, APFS, HFS/HFS+, Btree+ nodes, FAT and NTFS MFT records, boot records, etc.
