• The core of Profile Builder is the ability to create smart extrusions (we call them “profile elements”) using parametric profiles. The profile can be of any shape and even be a polyline. Create smart moldings, frames, pipes, railings, roofing, walls and foundations – the possibilities are endless!
• Profiles can be saved to your local library along with a custom name, orientation (snap point, offset, rotation), dimensions, material and layer. Create a new profile by simply drawing a face on your model and adding it as a new profile. Once you save your profile, you can download it and then reuse it in future projects.
• Imagine modeling a complex railing, multi-layer wall, fence, frame wall, staircase or road in seconds! The Profile Builder assembler allows you to create and save fully customizable parametric smart assemblies. You will be absolutely amazed at what you can do with assemblies in Profile Builder! Don’t want to make your own builds? No problem! Simply download one of the many pre-built 3D model builds and customize it to your liking!
• With the Auto Build feature, you can easily create many different assemblies at the touch of a button. Just create the parts of your build, select them and click “Auto Build”!
• Easily cut nested groups and components with the powerful hole tool. Profile members remember the properties of their holes, so you can change the object and the holes will be recreated in the desired location.
• One of the biggest complaints about the SketchUp Follow Me tool is that the profile orientation tends to rotate in complex paths. Profile Builder can process any path you give it and will always maintain the expected profile orientation.
• You can also rotate a profile with one click to create a parametric 3D rotating profile element. These types of objects typically take a long time to create in SketchUp, but Profile Builder can do it in seconds!
• The Smart-Path Select tool is useful for quickly selecting a specific edge path from other complex geometry.
• When we say Profile Builder is parametric, we mean it! Any smart profile element or assembly created using Profile Builder can be edited after creation by adjusting smart parameters. Change the profile, material, height, width, orientation and even extrusion path after creation. Use the Extend tool to adjust the length of the profile element, and use the built-in trim tools to add finishing touches.
