Geometric DFMPro Overview

Geometric DFMPro (Design For Manufacturbility Professional) is an easy-to-use manufacturing capability verification tool for designers and manufacturing engineers, integrated into Siemens NX. Its use facilitates manufacturing capability verification and identification of project parts that may be labor-intensive or expensive to manufacture in turning, milling, turn-milling, sheet metal machining, etc.

Geometric DFMPro Features

Express analysis of the workpiece manufacturability in terms of milling or turning capabilities and principles is performed using the DFMPro module. You simply select the type of part – milling or turning – and in a matter of seconds you receive a detailed report on possible machining problems. DFMPro will find all elements that are inaccessible to the milling cutter, that do not meet the enterprise standards for the depth/diameter ratio or for belonging to the standard series of hole diameters, rounding of external edges and triangular internal angles, holes that do not exit onto external faces perpendicular to them or intersect internal cavities, and even excessive tolerances in terms of accuracy. For turned parts, grooves without rounding along the internal diameter and all non-rounded circular edges will also be found. The numerical values ​​of the manufacturability criteria can be changed within wide limits in accordance with the requirements of the enterprise.
DFMPro is used in case of increased requirements for the system’s capabilities for checking the manufacturability of parts, as well as for using such a tool with turning and milling and sheet metal parts. This module performs a larger number of checks – and checks not only the geometry of the part, but also the attributes set by the user, for example, the grade of material – but also allows you to set up the analysis rules in a significantly wider range.
